Another goodbye to Paris.

Another last day in Paris.
Sat in the sun to eat 3 kinds of duck...
a trip to Belleville for a last afternoon with a good friend.
Twisting, tiny paths.
Hidden courtyards.
Cobbled corners with bars that sometimes open... the sunday handfull out the front in fleeting sun with beer and backgammon.
And on the metro to the 9th... Tartare, Brouilly and talk of living in the desert.

A final 'Paris' moment
1am.
Sitting in the doors of a quiet, local bar in the 9th.
5 regulars sit at the bar... taking turns to head outside to smoke.
Inside green neon and a mix of music to please any schizophenic.
A passing apparition... part werewolf, part vampire.... with chihuahua in tow, he returns. A 'hair sculptur'... the next hours drinks take on the path and in the gutter as he 'sculpts' hair. Its drug money he says, as 'Nanuk' chews my shoes.
Have another Rum Douglas and enjoy your last bizare moments in Paris, who knows what tomorrow will bring...

Cool, empty streets under a misted moon.
Alone and dark through Pigalle.
Kicking litter in an autumn chill. 2.30 La Chapelle.
Under sad, shuttered windows, the remnants of the night gathered on corners.
A last taste of Paris night as the metro lights flicker to black.
... any return will see different streets.
